Devaaya is an authentic Ayurvedic Retreat and Nature Cure Center in Goa.
But it's not only that, it's much more...
It's "...5 acre of lush greenery, swaying coconut palms all embraced by the mystical river Mandovi", located in Divar Island, a small island in Goa. Yes, Goa has small islands too...
As a habituée I can truly tell you that this is the best place to get Ayurvedic treatments in Goa. For that, we have to thanks the Alcon Victor Group who decided to pioneer a modern view of a health delivery system in Goa, with the famous Apollo Hospital first and with the Devaaya Ayurvedic Retreat and Nature Centre after it.
Skipping all the facilities, beautiful cottages, paradisiac environment and the total absence of mosquitos, I'll go straight to the core of it: treatments and food.
The Spa offers personalized treatments based on the daily visit with the Ayurvedic doctor. From the classical oil massage, you will go through the synchronize massage (4 hands), vibro massage, mud therapy, lymphatic scrub, herbal scrub, reflexology, and much more.
All the therapist are professional, highly trained and they know-what-they-are-doing! Something impossible to get in India! How many time have you been lying on a massage bed thinking "what am I doing here?" and paying for something surely your partner can do better? Endless time...
At Devaaya you have the constant feeling that you are in good hands... each and every member of the team know exactly how to do their job and you w'ont find any jobless gardener or waiter staring at you.
Everybody are busy, including yourself, booked from morning to evening with yoga, therapies, meditation, awareness programmes, tours, eating and relaxing your soul.
Every time I come here, I decide to go for one week diet. One week of starvation, as I use to call it. Basically, you do eat, but not like a horse! You just need to get adjusted the first three days and then everything will go smooth. At the end of your stay, four kg of fat and toxins will be left at the Spa. Trust me!
For the one who decide to have a normal diet the food is amazing. Do not expect fish curry rice and biryani but healthy, vegetarian and tasty Ayurvedic food. The choice of dishes is really varied, from curries to soups, salads and desserts. What I mostly like are the fulkas, something like a chapati but softer. Yes, during my starvation week I'm allowed to have them!
What Devaaya propose is definitely Panchakarma, "a holistic treatment method which combines Ayurvedic treatments with yoga, Meditation, Music, Lifestyle correction, Diet Planning and medicines to achieve a healthy body, mind and spirit."
By the way, have a look at the tariff page and just get your butt here!
